My apologies for the miss understanding... funny my character also uses that same naming convention of family then personal. Being Bajorn, well sorta.
My character's name
Just so everyone knows, I'm not in any way upset about this, 'cause it's entirely my own fault for picking a non-standard naming convention. However, I've picked up a couple of well-intended errors in posts so far and thought I'd set it straight.
Li Ling Kaida is written in the Japanese/Chinese convention of placing the family name first, and that family name has two separated syllables. Thus, if you wanted to refer to her formally it would be as Lieutenant Commander Li Ling or just Commander Li Ling (just Commander Ling would be about as rude as referring to you by half your last name).
On a first-name basis, she'd be called just Kaida.
